Welcome back!!

We resumed in-person worship on July 4th!  We will continue to also use Zoom during worship to engage those that prefer to remain at home.

It's an interesting time for the church as we navigate this COVID environment.  We are discovering new ways of being church through our online worship, our physically distancing service to the community and our connections through virtual means such as Zoom, Facetime, and good old-fashioned phone calls!  We continue to live out our mission statement to connect all with God’s love and grace as we digitally interact with our members, friends and community.

You can connect with us in several ways:

We know that many in our community are out of work, are lonely in this isolating environment, or have an extra layer of stress in their lives.  We here at BPC want to reach out and help in any way we can.  If you would like us to pray for you, someone else, some situation, or have any questions at all, please use the "Email Us" button above.

We hope that you will feel the love of Christ as we journey in faith together!

Connecting all to God’s love and grace.

Engage. Nurture. Serve.

Sharon has served as our Office Manager/Administrator since 2012.

I grew up in a wide variety of congregations, but began singing in the church when I was 5 or 6 years old. During high school, I joined my youth group's band as a singer, eventually playing guitar & keys and serving as the band leader. Originally from Georgia, I moved to Tampa, Florida for undergrad where I developed my formal background in business, specifically focusing my time and attention on nonprofits. After graduating in 2016, I moved to Sacramento, California to work as a Team Leader in the National Civilian Community Corps, a branch of the federal service program AmeriCorps. Just before Easter of 2017, I moved to Maryland to start working with BPC as a worship leader, helping to facilitate the development of a contemporary worship service experience. What began as a solo gig slowly expanded into managing a team of musicians, leading to my current role as the Director of Music & Technology (The DMT). While here at BPC, I've been involved with the Ablaze Youth Ministry, our Faith Formation, Worship, and Mission committees, the Young Adults fellowship group, and helped lead our presbytery's Disaster Relief Network, serving in Puerto Rico on multiple occasions. While I did earn a graduate degree focused on change management & organizational leadership in 2018, I consider myself a lifelong learner and thoroughly enjoy informal & experiential learning, listening to podcasts & audiobooks, watching TED Talks, and completing free courses online! Besides musical and technology-based hobbies, I've been a runner since middle school, and enjoy most adventurous activities (rock climbing, scuba diving, kayaking, etc.). I've been to all 50 states and my goal is to visit all 7 continents by age 30!

In the Presbyterian Church, the governing board is the Session, made up of Ruling Elders elected by the congregation, plus the pastors of the church.  At Boyds, our Session consists of 7 Elders and a moderator.  Each year, the Session elects a Clerk, who is responsible for the records of the body. Our Session typically meets monthly with special meetings, as necessary.  Our Meetings are open to church members, and our minutes are available.  Since the pandemic, our meetings have been by Zoom.

The Deacons work with the Mission Ministry Team to find ways to get our feet on the ground and our hands in the work of our mission partners. Like other Ministry Teams, our work is tied to the Mission Statement, “Connecting All to God’s Love and Grace.” When we are able to meet in person, the Deacons manage all aspects of Sunday ushering and fellowship. We also manage home-bound communions, condolence support and exhibiting radical hospitality to those who are new to our Church.

The Trustees and Buildings & Grounds Ministry Team works hand-in-hand to maintain our Church property (grounds and building interior/exteriors). Under Session’s guidance, the Trustees oversee the use of the Church buildings and policies governing its use and recommends to Session the major expenses to maintain the facility, including remodeling or repair, as needed.
